Mark Arends Obituary, Death Cause – Mark Cleve Arends, a beloved member of the Alden community, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the age of 53. His loss is deeply felt by those who knew and loved him. A public visitation will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the River’s Edge Church in Iowa Falls, with a 3 PM prayer service. Mark’s journey began on September 18, 1970, when he was born to Sherman Paul and Marcia Anne (Stripling) Arends. Growing up in LuVerne, Iowa, he gained recognition for his skills on the pitching mound, earning him the nickname “Shark.” He later graduated from Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne High School with the class of 1989.

After high school, Mark decided to continue his education and moved to Iowa Falls, where he attended Ellsworth Community College. His passion for baseball continued, and he became a valuable member of the college’s baseball team. It was during the summer of 1990 that he crossed paths with Kris, who would soon become a significant part of his life.

Kris quickly learned that spending time with Mark meant learning to play golf, as he had a deep love for the sport. Their shared love for golf helped strengthen their bond, and they went on to exchange wedding vows on July 30, 1994. The couple was blessed with three sons: Brannon, Kyle, and Carter. Mark’s professional journey was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. He began his career in 1990, working at Sieg Auto Parts in Iowa Falls.
