Jaimie Alexander splits from Twilight star fiance Peter Facinelli due to 'conflicting commitments'

It seemed a match made in heaven when they got engaged last year.

But TV beauty Jaimie Alexander has split from her Twilight star fiance Peter Facinelli due to conflicting schedules.

The 31-year-old actress has had a major hit with her show Blindspot, while her former partner Peter, 42, has also been busy due to his role in Supergirl, where he plays Lex Luthor-esque high tech mogul Maxwell Lord.

A representative for the couple told People: 'Due to conflicting family and work commitments on opposite coasts, and after much consideration, Peter and Jaimie have chosen to part ways amicably and remain good friends.

It is certainly a sad end to what was a glittering romance, which the pair most recently stepping out together at the Golden Globes in January.

However even then there was a hint of what was to come when Jaimie said they had been too busy to come up with any wedding plans.

She added: 'But we're toying with the idea of doing something kind of stunt-oriented to just mix it up and doing something kind of wild and fun.

'I just don't have it in me, that, like, girly gene that's, like, "I need to be in a white dress." I could be in a pair of jeans and be just as well.' 

While he never quite got to the aisle with Jaimie, Peter has three children with his previous wife,  Beverly Hills, 90210 favourite Jennie Garth. The pair married in a traditional Catholic ceremony, but got divorced in 2013.

He started dating Thor actress Jaimie after they met on the set of romantic comedy Loosies back in 2012, in which she played his leading lady.
