While Moore has an incredible figure, she didn't always think that way about herself. In her revealing 2019 memoir, Inside Out, Moore admitted that she used to obsess over her weight and her body. She says that this would happen a lot when she was preparing for a role. "It was my job to fit into that unforgiving military uniform I'd be wearing in two months in A Few Good Men," Moore wrote. "I couldn't stop exercising…I would be on display again, and all I could think about was my body, my body, my body…I doubled down on my already over-the-top exercise routine. I cut out carbs, I ran and I biked and I worked out on every machine imaginable." Moore says that she stopped having this mindset when preparing for her iconic role in G.I. Jane. "When I got home to Idaho, I had an epiphany in the shower one day: I just need to be my natural size."
After Moore stopped obsessing over her weight and figure, she then worked to develop a sense of body positivity. "I have had a love-hate relationship with my body," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body. And that includes not just my weight, but all of the things that come with your changing body." Moore says that she welcomes any changes her body may go through.
Moore's go-to exercises are all about toning and preserving her body. Moore's trainer, Gregory Joujon-Roche told OneBodyOneLife.com, that Moore enjoys doing exercises like ab and bicep curls to tone certain areas. "She wants to preserve her arms, stomach, lower body," he says.
One look at Moore's Instagram, and you notice that she loves to get outside and get her Vitamin D. Moore is often seen traveling and going to the beach, and even slips on a bikini once in a while. Moore posted a video over the summer of her boating in Greece, with the caption "Santorini sunsets."
Moore wrote in her autobiography that she is a fan of meditation, and that it has helped her deal with her body image issues. "I added into my daily prayer a new mantra: to have the courage to be seen without padding or protection. I couldn't go on fighting my body and my weight; I had to make peace," she said. "I started by giving up hard exercise. I never went back into the gym in the house. Never. … The room it occupied is now my office."
